General Instructions
|
|
When measuring your window, you have two choices on where to fit the blind...
- Inside the recess of the window, or
- On the outside of the recess overlapping the window on both sides as well as the top and bottom.
The advantages of fitting the blind INSIDE the recess is that it tends to look a lot neater and gives you the option of fitting curtains, false tie-backs, etc, over the window. The only disadvantage really, is that you do lose a portion of your window sill.
Fitting OUTSIDE the recess does not allow further curtaining, etc to be fitted, but will give you the maximum amount of light as the blind can be made to completely clear the window if required.

How to Measure for INSIDE the recess
|
When measuring...
Please only use a steel tape measure. Do not for example use a dressmakers tape as they tend to stretch. |
|
Width...
- If the blind is to fit in the recess, measure inside the recess from wall to wall in 3 places, across the top, the centre and the bottom.
- Use the smallest measurement.
- Do not make any deductions, we will do this for you.
|
Drop...
- Again, if the blind is to fit in the recess, measure the inside of the recess from the underside of the lintel to the surface of the window sill.
- Measure on the left, the center, and the right.
- Use the smallest measurement.
- Do not make any deductions, we will do this for you.

How to Measure for OUTSIDE the recess
|
|
Width...
- Decide how far you want the blinds to overlap the window on either side. Give us that measurement.
- As a guideline, an ideal overlap is about 6" (150mm), on each side.
|
Drop...
- Now decide how far you want the blind to overlap the window on the top and bottom. Give us that measurement.
- Again, as a guideline, 6" (150mm) on the top and the bottom is about ideal.
